The Opportunity
Lingo is redefining how people understand and engage with their own health — and we're looking for a Head of Copy who can match that ambition with world-class creative work. This is a leadership role for a creative who has built their foundation in copy and storytelling, and who brings the strategic depth to shape not just how we say things, but what we stand for and why it matters.
You'll partner closely with a Senior Visual Designer who owns the aesthetic craft, so your focus is squarely on the thinking, the words, and the strategy behind it all. You'll lead the creative vision across brand, campaigns, and content — and you'll be the connective tissue between business goals and breakthrough ideas.
This role reports directly to Director of Brand and Creative and sits at the intersection of brand strategy, creative leadership, and narrative development.
What You’ll Work On
Creative Strategy & Leadership
Own the creative strategy across brand and campaign initiatives, ensuring all work is rooted in a clear point of view and a deep understanding of the Lingo audience
Lead creative concepting sessions, bringing a writer's instinct for insight, tension, and story to every brief
Translate business objectives and marketing briefs into compelling creative platforms, not just executions
Champion creative consistency and quality across all channels — from performance ads and social to packaging and brand campaigns
Develop and evolve the brand voice, ensuring it is distinct, durable, and deeply human
Copy & Content Direction
Write, direct, and elevate copy across all touchpoints — brand, digital, editorial, CRM, and beyond
Set the standard for what great writing looks like at Lingo, providing hands-on guidance and feedback to freelancers, agencies, and internal contributors
Maintain and evolve messaging frameworks, tone of voice guidelines, and narrative architecture that the broader team can work from
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with the senior visual designer to ensure copy and design work in genuine creative harmony
Work alongside brand, product, and growth marketing teams to bring a cohesive creative voice across every customer touchpoint
Present creative work to senior stakeholders with clarity, confidence, and strategic conviction
Manage and brief external creative partners — agencies, freelance writers, content studios — ensuring the work lands to brief and to standard
Team & Culture
Help build a culture where craft is celebrated and creative thinking is everyone's job
Mentor junior creatives and contribute to the development of a high-performing, collaborative creative team
Stay close to culture, health, and wellness trends to ensure Lingo's creative output stays relevant and resonant
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree
- 8–12 years of experience in creative roles, with a clear trajectory through copywriting and creative concepting
- Proven track record leading creative strategy and execution for consumer brands — health, wellness, lifestyle, or technology experience a strong plus
- A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional writing, smart strategic thinking, and the range to work across brand, digital, and campaign
- Experience art-directing and collaborating with designers — you don't need to design, but you need to direct
- Agency, in-house, or hybrid background welcome; experience working in fast-moving, founder-led or scale-up environments is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
- A genuine love of language and a belief that great copy is a strategic act, not a finishing touch
- The ability to zoom out to brand strategy and zoom in to a single headline with equal precision
- Strong presenter — you can take a room through a creative story and make it land
- Comfortable with ambiguity and energized by building; this is not a role for those who need all the answers before starting
- Natural collaborator who makes the people around them better
