About the role
We are hiring a Global Power Delivery Equipment Lead to own Anthropic's global strategy, OEM relationships, and capacity position for long-lead power equipment that sets the pace of Anthropic's global data center build-out. You will stand up and lead Anthropic's global equipment strategy function and represent Anthropic with OEM executives, utilities, and development partners. In this role, you will own end-to-end sourcing strategies for critical power generation and grid-integration equipment — gas turbines, reciprocating engines, large power and generator step-up transformers, medium- and high-voltage switchgear, solar and battery energy storage (BESS), and related balance-of-plant electrical — across both off-grid (behind-the-meter, islanded, bridge power) and grid-integrated sites.
The scope is global: you will cover all regions (US, EMEA, APAC) and coordinate with the regional energy leads so that equipment strategy, OEM capacity reservations, and allocation decisions are made once, at portfolio scale, rather than project by project. The sourcing strategy you build should also make innovative power system approaches buildable — off-grid, solar-dominant configurations (solar + BESS with firming generation), not just conventional gas + grid. You will partner closely with energy origination, engineering, demand planning, construction, legal, finance, and third-party development partners to drive equipment availability, establish OEM relationships, and negotiate framework and commercial agreements.
Responsibilities:

Drive commercial negotiations and framework / Master Purchase Agreements for critical power equipment such as gas turbines (simple and combined cycle), reciprocating engines, fuel cells, large power and generator step-up transformers (HV/EHV), medium- and high-voltage switchgear, substation and protection equipment, solar, and battery energy storage systems.

Secure and manage OEM manufacturing slots and capacity reservations — reservation agreements, deposits, slot allocation, delivery milestones, warranties, liquidated damages, and assignment rights — and run the allocation and reallocation process across sites and regions as deals are signed.

Build and hold relationships with OEM headquarters and regional leadership across North America, Japan and Asia, and Europe, including on capacity-expansion and allocation commitments.

Own the global power equipment strategy: translate the site and energy pipeline into equipment forecasts and procurement pipelines for both off-grid and grid-integrated configurations, and keep the equipment pipeline view (reserved / on order / in fabrication / allocated) current.

Enable innovative power system approaches — off-grid, solar-dominant configurations (solar + BESS with firming) alongside conventional gas + grid — by securing the OEM relationships, reservations, and framework terms that make them buildable at scale and on schedule.

Set the global equipment plan with the regional energy leads in the US, EMEA, and APAC so regional generation strategy, interconnection timelines, and local code and grid requirements are reflected in what is bought, when, and for where.

Decide allocation across sites and partners in constrained markets, hold partners to schedule, and own total cost of supply.

Implement frameworks for ensuring third-party data center partners, EPCs, and general contractors adhere to commercial equipment terms and technical specifications, including owner-furnished equipment (OFE) assignment and reimbursement mechanics.

Work with EPC and power producer / utility counterparties on collaborative sourcing and programmatic equipment approaches — joint or pooled orders, standardized specs, and framework buys that span sites and counterparties — so equipment is bought as a program rather than deal by deal, drawing on utility sourcing practices where they fit.

Own lead-time risk across the portfolio, directing EPCs, development partners, and regional energy leads on lead-time management for long-lead power equipment — tracking OEM lead times and delivery schedules against site and project schedules and deciding order timing and slot allocation and reallocation across sites and counterparties — so equipment lands when each site needs it.

Proactively monitor global supply chain volatility (e.g., lead times and capacity for turbines, transformers, and switchgear; country-of-origin and tariff exposure) and execute contingency plans and alternative-source strategies to avoid critical project delays.

Track the energy-innovation, energy-to-data-center integration, and domestic-manufacturing and global-trade dynamics that move power-equipment availability and cost — new generation and storage technologies, behind-the-meter and grid-integrated delivery models, OEM capacity expansion, tariff and country-of-origin exposure — and turn them into sourcing positions.

Own the commercial structure (deposits, payment schedules, credit support, capital deployment) with Finance and Legal and carry transactions through executive approval.

Partner with power-system design and engineering early — site power architecture, generation mix, interconnection approach — so equipment sourcing strategy and system design inform each other rather than sourcing arriving after the design is fixed; and on specifications and standardization so equipment purchased on-spec can be redeployed across sites, regions, and development partners.

Negotiate warranty, startup/commissioning support, long-term service, and spare parts terms, and track OEM performance.
You may be a good fit if you:

Have 12+ years in power equipment, grid infrastructure, or energy markets, spanning at least two of: OEM commercial or business development; utility or power-producer sourcing and development; renewables or storage development; procurement or EPC — including having led a function, team, or portfolio-scale program.

Have a track record of developing processes for forecasting, planning, and procuring power generation and grid-integration equipment for data centers, utilities, IPPs, or large industrial loads.

Are familiar with power systems equipment (e.g., gas turbines, reciprocating engines, fuel cells, large power and GSU transformers, MV/HV switchgear, protection and substation equipment, solar, BESS) and the differences between islanded/behind-the-meter and grid-connected configurations.

Have direct experience negotiating framework, master supply, or capacity reservation agreements with major power-equipment OEMs.

Are familiar with utility sourcing practices — framework and alliance agreements, reservation and blanket orders, standard specifications, and OEM qualification programs — and can adapt them to a programmatic equipment approach.

Have negotiated framework or reservation agreements at $100M+ scale with executive-level OEM relationships.

Have worked inside or directly with a major power-equipment OEM (transformers, HV/switchgear, grid automation, turbines) on commercial structures, capacity allocation, and new business models.

Have presented strategy and risk to executive leadership or a board.

Have worked alongside power-system design engineers on site power architecture, generation mix, and interconnection, and can translate between what the system needs and what the OEM market can deliver.

Possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant domain (e.g., electrical engineering, power systems, construction management, supply chain) or equivalent practical experience.
It's a bonus if you have:

5+ years experience in data center, utility, or critical environment power infrastructure.

Experience sourcing across multiple regions (US, EMEA, APAC) and working with regional OEM sales, EPC, and logistics organizations.

Established relationships with major generation, transformer, and switchgear OEMs and familiarity with their slot-allocation processes.

Experience working with general contractors, EPCs, MEP integrators, OEMs, and equipment distributors on data center construction programs.

Familiarity with interconnection processes and utility/ISO requirements relevant to large loads and on-site generation.

Familiarity with battery energy storage systems and hybrid generation architectures.
-
Experience with OEM warranty, return, repair, and replacement programs.
The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.
For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
