Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our Surface Mount Technologies (SMT) team as a General Manufacturing Manager 2 in a Test Environment based out of Baltimore, MD.

This role will be responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 15 - 20 represented (union) employees and processes in a Manufacturing environment. You will be expected to work independently and collaboratively across organizations; manage the use of consumables to achieve budget targets; assign and manage represented employees to maximize efficiency and achieve target productivity yields; implement process improvements to improve affordability, quality, and schedule; and perform required SAP/MES transactions to manage operators and M&P specialists. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills and abilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a strong leader with experience in manufacturing and test processes, production planning, and workforce management.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Provide direction to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies

  • Drive employee efficiency

  • Meet product cost and schedule targets

  • Manage the area to produce quality products

  • Manage and provide leadership to manufacturing teams, including hiring, training, performance management, and employee development

  • Engage employees to achieve their highest potential

  • Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and operation of testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability

  • Implement process improvements to improve affordability, quality, and schedule.

  • Collaborate with production planning, engineering, procurement, quality, and other cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes

  • Facilitate and lead meetings / projects

  • Perform required SAP/MES transactions and train others


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of experience in a Manufacturing, Production, or Engineering environment; Master’s Degree with 6 years of experience in a Manufacturing, Production, or Engineering environment; 12 years of work experience in a Manufacturing, Production, or Engineering environment may be considered in lieu of degree requirement

  • Experience in Functional Leadership to include leading and managing production teams and operations

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Project Management

  • Experience with SAP/MES

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Level Security Clearance

  • U.S. Citizenship required


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active/Current U.S. Government Security Level Security Clearance

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or other STEM area

  • Experience working with manufacturing equipment and processes

  • Prior experience working in a represented (union) environment

  • Proven track record in implementing process improvements that result in cost savings, quality enhancement, or production efficiency gains.

Primary Level Salary Range: $115,600.00 - $173,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
