Amentum is seeking a Fitness Instructor to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Fitness Instructor will be responsible for supporting the daily operation of MWR fitness facilities by providing quality fitness instruction, promoting health and wellness programs, and ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patrons. This position leads group exercise classes, assists customers with fitness questions, monitors equipment and facility use, and delivers exceptional customer service. 

Job Responsibilities:

•    Conduct group fitness classes using safe and effective exercise techniques. 
•    Motivate and encourage participants of varying fitness levels while creating a positive and inclusive fitness environment. 
•    Assist patrons with basic fitness equipment orientation and proper exercise techniques. 
•    Promote health, wellness, and physical fitness through organized programs and activities. 
•    Ensure fitness areas are clean, organized, and safe for use. 
•    Monitor fitness equipment and report maintenance or repair needs. 
•    Enforce facility policies, safety procedures, and MWR regulations. 
•    Provide outstanding customer service by responding to patron questions and resolving concerns. 
•    Select appropriate music and develop engaging class routines that support fitness objectives. 
•    Maintain required certifications and remain current on industry best practices and fitness trends. 
•    Respond to medical emergencies and provide CPR/AED assistance when required. 
•    Assist with special events, fitness challenges, and recreational programs as assigned. 
•    Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.


Required Qualifications:

•    High school diploma or equivalent.
•    Minimum of two (2) years of related fitness, recreation, or wellness experience preferred. 
•    One (1) year of experience teaching or participating in group fitness instruction is preferred. 
•    Current fitness instructor certification from a nationally or internationally recognized organization. 
•    Current CPR and AED certification through the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or an equivalent organization. 
•    Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
•    Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
•    Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
•    Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
•    Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. 
•    Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce 
•    A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle. 
•    Experience in government or military groundskeeping or landscaping programs.
•    Basic knowledge or training in the installation and maintenance of irrigation and stormwater drainage systems.
•    Demonstrated ability to maintain improved grounds in compliance with contractual and operational standards.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements. 
 
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
