We are looking for you to join our team as a Field Engineer / Principal Field Engineer as an EXPAT in the United Kingdom (position located on a restricted RAF base). This position may require travel to other locations to support worldwide program needs, as requested by the USAF customer (up to 25% travel).

  • This is an unaccompanied assignment; relocation assistance will not be provided for family members. The selected candidate may choose to have family accompany them at their own expense.

  • As an international assignee, you will be eligible to receive international assignment benefits, allowances and/or premiums negotiated between Northrop Grumman and the customer which will be communicated to you in advance of your assignment start date and memorialized in an International Assignment Agreement (“IAA”) between you and the Company.  The IAA will set forth all of the terms and conditions of your assignment and shall include such items as (i) immigration assistance, (ii) tax assistance, including tax equalization, (iii) relocation to the host jurisdiction, including interim living allowances and reimbursements, (iv) host country housing, cost of living, transportation (v) any other benefit, special allowance or incentives agreed to between the Company and the customer.

  • United States home of record is required.

What You’ll get to Do:

The position requires working on a Flight Line supporting a sophisticated payload performing functions such as:

  • Pre-Flight testing

  • Evaluation of Pre-Flight and Built in Test results

  • Use of complex RF and digital test equipment to resolve issues

  • Removal and Replacement of Chassis’

  • Maintaining maintenance logs and IMDS

  • Coordinating with mission planners and reporting daily, weekly status

  • Coordinating with plant SME teams

  • Work independently and on small teams, be an effective communicator and have the ability to quickly learn, operate and test a complex system

This position may be filled as a Field Engineer or Principal Field Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for a Field Engineer :

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related work experience; an additional 4 years’ experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience working with and troubleshooting complex electronic systems

  • Experience working on Flight Line OR working on a complex SIGINT system

  • Must be willing to work on a rotating schedule, alternating between both day and night shifts

  • Candidate will be required to perform physically demanding work outside in a noisy environment (50% of job involves physical work around aircraft and back-shop test equipment), to include standing for long periods of time, exposure to elements, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Up to 25% travel to other program locations as needed

  • US Citizenship and current/active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI clearance required

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Field Engineer :

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related work experience; an additional 4 years’ experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience working with and troubleshooting complex electronic systems

  • Experience working on Flight Line OR working on a complex SIGINT system

  • Must be willing to work on a rotating schedule, alternating between both day and night shifts

  • Candidate will be required to perform physically demanding work outside in a noisy environment (50% of job involves physical work around aircraft and back-shop test equipment), to include standing for long periods of time, exposure to elements, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Up to 25% travel to other program locations as needed

  • US Citizenship and current/active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI clearance required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • USAF Flight Line Experience AND experience working on a complex SIGINT system

  • Fluent using IMDS

  • Working familiarity with Unix/Linux

  • Experience of hands-on use of electronic and RF test equipment

Primary Level Salary Range: $69,000.00 - $103,400.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $85,600.00 - $128,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
