Summary of Role

GlobalFoundries Fab 9 is seeking a New College Graduate Failure Analysis Engineer to join our advanced analytical laboratory in Essex Junction, Vermont. In this role, you will support semiconductor manufacturing, yield improvement, and root-cause investigations through failure analysis techniques, materials characterization, and data-driven problem solving while developing expertise in advanced analytical methods and semiconductor process technologies. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Support failure analysis investigations for yield, reliability, and manufacturing challenges using analytical techniques including Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS).
  • Analyze characterization data, interpret results, and communicate findings to engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop investigation strategies, optimize analytical methods, and improve process understanding.
  • Develop technical expertise in semiconductor materials analysis, failure mechanisms, and advanced laboratory equipment through hands-on training and mentorship. 

Required Qualifications

  • Education – Graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited degree program.
  • Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and proven good academic standing.
  • Language Fluency – English (Written & Verbal).
  • Travel – Up to 10%. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship, co-op, undergraduate research, or laboratory experience related to semiconductor processing, materials characterization, or failure analysis.
  • Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making.
  • Experience with materials characterization techniques such as SIMS, SEM, EDX, optical microscopy, spectroscopy, or related analytical methods.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through coursework, student organizations, research projects, competitions, or other activities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Experience working in a laboratory, cleanroom, semiconductor, or manufacturing environment.

Expected Salary Range

$58,400.00 - $100,800.00

The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
