The following position is to join our RTX Enterprise Services Team: 

RTX has an opening for a Facilities Principal Specialist – Space Planning & Drafting (Principal Specialist, Facilities) position located in McKinney TX.


The Facilities Principal Specialist – Space Planning & Drafting provides advanced technical drafting support, space planning analysis, and master drawing management to enable site FM Planning activities. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate as-built documentation, developing workspace layouts, and identifying viable space options that align customer requirements and RTX Facilities Standards. The Principal Specialist collaborates closely with Workplace Strategy, BRM team, Project Delivery, Facilities Operations, Engineering, Security, IT, and EH&S to deliver compliant, efficient, and customer-focused space solutions across the site.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain and update master CAD drawings, floorplans, space models, block plans, and occupancy maps in accordance with RTX drafting standards and layering conventions.
  • Develop technical drawings, layouts, and conceptual designs to support MAC activities, seating changes, reconfigurations, renovations, and long‑range space planning.
  • Evaluate customer space requests; identify potential space options based on adjacency needs, functional requirements, utilization metrics, and building constraints.
  •  Support Space Planning with test‑fits, layout alternatives, and space optimization strategies for offices, engineering areas, labs, and manufacturing environments.
  •  Conduct field verifications, site walkthroughs, and measurements to ensure drawing accuracy and alignment to actual site conditions.
  •  Maintain space and occupancy data in approved RTX space management systems (Meridian, Archibus, OSIS), ensuring accurate seat assignments and updates after MAC events.
  •  Generate drawing packages, visual aids, and documentation for move planning, customer presentations, approvals, and project handoffs.
  •  Coordinate with Security, IT, and EH&S to ensure layout compliance with badge access, network infrastructure, egress paths, ergonomic guidelines, and safety codes.
  • Provide drafting and layout support for small‑scale facilities projects, furniture installations, and reconfiguration initiatives.
  • Serve as a site expert for CAD standards, as-built accuracy, drawing control processes, and archival requirements.
  • Support long‑term planning efforts including capacity modeling, space forecasting, and utilization reporting.
  •  Deliver responsive and customer-focused support for space-related inquiries, ensuring alignment to site strategy and operational needs.

Qualifications You Must Have

  •  Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in CAD drafting, architectural drafting, facilities drafting, or space planning and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities or related discipline or equivalent combination of related work experience and schooling in lieu of degree.
  •  3+ years’ advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, including managing large drawing sets, adhering to drawing standards, and producing complex layouts.
  •  1+ years’ Interpret customer requirements and translate them into accurate, functional layout options.
  •  1+ years’ experience conducting field verifications and maintaining high-quality as-built documentation.
  •  Proficiency with MS Office tools; familiarity with space management systems (Meridian, Revit, Archibus, OSIS).
  • U.S. Citizenship status may be required depending on facility access and program needs.

Qualifications We Prefer

  •  Experience supporting aerospace/defense facilities, secure areas, or controlled environments
  •  Knowledge of RTX Facilities Standards, corporate CAD guidelines, and technical drafting procedures.
  •  Working knowledge of building codes, emergency egress requirements and ergonomics.
  • · Experience creating layouts for engineering offices, technical labs, or production environments.
  • ·Familiarity with Lean principles or process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to perform site surveys, measure workspaces, and verify as-built conditions.

Role Type: On site McKinney TX

  • This is an onsite role qualified candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance from the McKinney TX site.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
