The Enterprise Data and AI Office is seeking an experienced, strategic, and execution-oriented Data Governance Leader to help advance the firm’s enterprise Data Governance and Data Quality Management frameworks. This role will play a key leadership role in strengthening governance practices, enhancing control effectiveness, and supporting sustainable compliance with regulatory expectations.
Why this role is important to us
This position is part of the Enterprise Data Governance leadership team within the Chief Data and AI Office. The role is primarily focused on leading the design, enhancement, and implementation of data governance policies, standards, control frameworks, and operating models that align with regulatory expectations, industry practices, and the firm’s risk management objectives.
The successful candidate will serve as a senior subject matter lead and primary point of contact for executive governance forums, internal audit reviews, and regulatory requests related to data governance, data quality management, BCBS 239 compliance, and broader data management controls.
Success in this role will be measured through effective governance oversight, improved data quality outcomes, sustainable risk reduction, and continued maturation of the firm’s data governance risk and control environment.

• Support implementation of enhanced governance controls across critical data governance capabilities, including Critical Data Element cataloging, data ownership, data lineage, and CDE data quality management aligned to BCBS 239 risk data aggregation and risk reporting expectations.
• Lead the expansion and integration of data governance policies with related control frameworks, including records retention, data minimization, data classification, data protection, resiliency, model risk management, and AI governance.
• Advise senior management on data governance priorities, maturity roadmaps, operating model design, and implementation strategies.
• Partner with lines of business, corporate functions, and technology teams to define target-state governance capabilities aligned with enterprise standards and regulatory expectations.
• Serve as an enterprise data governance lead for internal audit requests, regulatory inquiries, examinations, and management action plan responses.
• Monitor emerging regulatory expectations and translate requirements into practical governance enhancements. Ensure regulatory observations, issues, and findings are converted into sustainable policy, process, and control improvements.
• Lead the development and execution of data governance regulatory remediation initiatives, including issue analysis, solution design, implementation planning, evidence development, and closure readiness.
• Present data governance strategy, implementation progress, risk themes, and remediation status to executive management, governance committees, auditors, and regulators.
• Define and maintain data governance KPIs, KRIs, and maturity measures used to assess the effectiveness of enterprise data governance programs and control outcomes.
