Job Title
Engineer I – Mechanical/ProcessResponsible for foundational aspects of the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, tooling, and production methods through the application of accepted engineering principles and techniques. Works closely with Senior Engineers to support process development, production optimization, data collection, root cause analysis, and process documentation. This position combines hands-on manufacturing support with engineering analysis, providing opportunities to develop technical expertise in machining, metrology, process engineering, and New Product Introduction (NPI) activities. Provides support and input for process/product improvement, quality control, and customer service.Roles & Responsibilities:
- Works with some supervision and oversight
- Product costing & technical review for Repeat items, Revision change, or New item with similar design (NPI levels 1-3 )
- Develop Customer approval drawings
- Learn from and support commercial partners
- Support prototyping efforts including hands on creation and evaluation.
- Set up or update BOM and routings
- Develop and update Production drawings
- Develop tooling design
- CAM tooling path set up or update
- Support projects such as Scrap and Productivity projects and EHS
- Utilize Change Control process
- Support operators and gather production feedback
- Utilize process control systems (PCS) and Statistical Process Controls (SPC) to effectively maintain and improve product and process quality
- Provide cost and manufacturing information to management
- Learn various ceramic processing techniques and materials
- Work closely with Senior Engineers to support manufacturing process development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with machine setup, process verification, troubleshooting, and data collection activities on the manufacturing floor
- Perform root cause analysis and participate in corrective action efforts to improve process capability, quality, and productivity
- Collect, analyze, and interpret manufacturing data to support process and product improvements
- Create, update, and maintain engineering process documentation, work instructions, and manufacturing records
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities through process development, testing, and validation
- Utilize measurement equipment and metrology techniques to verify product conformance and process capability
- Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to improve machining processes, reduce variation, and achieve tight tolerance requirements
- Develop foundational knowledge in process engineering, advanced manufacturing techniques, and engineering project execution
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- Bachelor’s degree in related engineering field and/or 4 years of experience in similar discipline.

- Statistical Analysis - Utilizes basic statistical methods and SPC techniques to evaluate process performance and support data-driven decision making.
- Metrology & Measurement - Uses precision measurement tools and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) data to evaluate product quality and process capability.
- GD&T Knowledge - Demonstrates an understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and the interpretation of engineering drawings with tight tolerance requirements.
- Process Development - Supports process development, process validation, and continuous improvement activities within a manufacturing environment.
- Computer Skills - Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.
- Mathematical Reasoning - Understands and applies complex mathematical concepts, including geometry and trigonometry, works with various 2D and 3D coordinate systems, applies Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing requirements, and writes and troubleshoots simple formulas
- in Excel or similar software.
- Project Management - Supports project execution by following plans, managing tasks, tracking progress, ensuring quality deliverables, securing resources, and proactively communicating risks and challenges.
- Technology Use - Independently operates common technology platforms (e.g., CAD, SPC), submits technology requests to the Service Center, and uses job aids and help documentation to resolve issues.
- Time Management - Accurately tracks time use, prioritizes work according to deadlines and goals, and identifies unimportant tasks.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional Section)
- Experience with CNC machining, manual machining, or manufacturing processes.
- Experience using precision measurement equipment, metrology tools, or Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
- Exposure to process development, manufacturing engineering, or New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
- Experience working in a precision manufacturing environment with tight tolerances.
Target Hiring Range
Annual Salary: USD 73,342.00 - USD 90,000.00Actual compensation is commensurate with experience, skills and education.
