The Mechanical & Energetics Engineering Team is hiring for a Staff Engineer Aeronautical professional reporting directly to a Senior Manager in the Mechanical and Energetics Engineering department at our Chandler, AZ location.  This role is designated to be a technical leadership role that supports the Launch Systems Business Unit Advanced Weapons Systems (AWS) Product Line. 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide technical leadership and synergy across all Advanced Weapons Systems Products
  • Subject Matter Expert in Missile System Mechanical Design, Integration and Testing 
  • Support Business Capture through Proposal Support to include, but not limited to material and labor estimates, technical writing, and oral presentations
  • Work directly with SME in Structural, Thermal, and Environments to generate technical solutions to meet complex design requirements
  • Establish relationships working with key suppliers to verify hardware, and subsystems are delivered on schedule meeting technical requirements
  • Mentor Leads, and Mid-career staff
  • Identify risk items early in design and help develop mitigation plans
  • Act as delegate to Senior Manager in the Mechanical and Energetics Engineering department as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with 12 years related engineering experience, or a Master's in STEM with 10 years related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 8years related engineering experience
  • Active US Government Secret security clearance, or higher at the time of application
  • Combination of design, analysis, integration, field (launch sites), and test experience
  • Experience as a senior reviewer of mechanical system design, and analysis work
  • Strong communicator, and motivated to work with a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's, or PhD in STEM
  • Current Active US Government Top Secret security clearance at the time of application
  • Subject Matter Expert in multiple areas related to missile system design, analysis, and test
  • Motivated, well-rounded, and a self-starter
  • Field experience supporting test flights of missile systems or launch vehicles
  • Demonstrated Problem Solver

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
