Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for a Electrical Engineer Level 3 or Level 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Huntsville, AL.

Position Overview:

As an Electrical Engineer (Level 3 or 4), you will support the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Hardware Engineering team’s design efforts while working in an Agile environment. Your primary responsibilities will include E3 analysis and HEMP testing, authoring analysis reports, developing CDRLs, and writing test plans and procedures. Accountability and active participation in team meetings, internal and external demonstrations, and documenting progress on team dashboards are expected.

Essential Functions:  

  • Perform analyses in accordance with applicable industry and military standards under the direction of program leadership.
  • Lead design efforts and develop technical reports to support program milestone reviews.
  • Provide accountable and active leadership in team meetings and internal/external demos, including documenting progress on team dashboards.
  • Review and generate engineering documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, and test reports.
  • Mentor and cross-train junior engineers in analysis methods, support technical reviews, and approve their analysis results to ensure customer requirements are met.

This requisition may be filled at either an Principal Electrical Engineer – Level 3 or Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer – Level 4.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineer Level 3: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of related experience, or 1 year of related experience with a PhD.
  • Electrical Engineer Level 4: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 5 years of related experience, or 4 years of related experience with a PhD.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
  • Must be able to support an in-office / closed-area work environment full-time.
  • Experience in E3 and HEMP testing and analysis.
  • Knowledge of standards: MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-188-125-1/2, IEC 61000 series
  • Experience developing and presenting technical content for milestone technical reviews with Government customer.
  • Experience using Ansys suite for E3 and HEMP analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical, Systems or Aerospace Engineering
  • Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards: MDA-QS-001-MAP, MDA-QS-003-PMAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS (ETR Process).
  • Familiarity with the GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardware.
  • Exposure to DOORS and/or CAMEO.
  • Familiarity with thermal (Ansys Icepak) and structural (NX, Femap, Abaqus) analysis, and environmental standards such as MIL-STD-810.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and execute large-scale environmental qualification test campaigns (i.e., test plan and procedure development, supplier contracts, stakeholder coordination, test execution, test report development).
  • Experience reviewing 2D Electrical drawings per ASME standards.
  • Experience using engineering PLM systems such as Teamcenter and MRP system such as SAP.
  • Experience in evaluating vendor documents to ensure specifications and datasheet meets requirements.
  • Familiarity with the following standards: MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1366, MIL-STD-1472, ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.100, MIL-STD-31000.

Primary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 - $163,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
