The Director of Revenue Accounting will lead Ping Identity’s global revenue organization, including revenue accounting, technical revenue accounting, and accounts receivable. This role will oversee revenue recognition, the monthly close process, customer collections, and the accounting assessment of complex contracts and new product offerings. The Director will work closely with Sales, Deal Management, Product, Legal, and Finance Systems to support the company’s evolving products and commercial arrangements. This position will lead multiple teams and ensure revenue and receivables are accurately reported through scalable processes that adhere to SOX requirements. The Director of Revenue will report to the Assistant Controller and serve as a key leader within the broader Controllership organization.

You Will: 

  • Lead the global revenue accounting, technical revenue accounting, and accounts receivable teams, establishing clear priorities and accountability across each function.
  • Oversee the monthly and quarterly revenue close, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Direct the technical accounting review of complex customer contracts, non-standard transactions, and new product offerings, ensuring conclusions are appropriately documented and consistently applied under ASC 606.
  • Oversee accounts receivable operations, including collections, cash application, aging analysis, credit loss reserves, and the resolution of customer account issues.
  • Partner with Sales, Deal Desk, Product, Legal and other teams to evaluate new offerings and before they are implemented.
  • Manage and develop leaders and team members across the revenue organization, building both technical accounting expertise and strong day-to-day execution.
  • Own revenue and accounts receivable processes, systems, and internal controls, including, and work with Finance Systems to resolve issues and improve functionality.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements.

You Have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant responsibility for revenue recognition in a software or technology environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and experience applying the guidance to SaaS, term license, support, services, usage-based, and other complex arrangements.
  • Experience leading multiple accounting teams or functions, including managers and individual contributors.
  • Experience overseeing accounts receivable operations, collections, aging, and credit loss assessments.
  • Ability to evaluate complex contracts and new product offerings, reach well-supported accounting conclusions, and communicate those conclusions to accounting and non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Experience managing a revenue close and maintaining effective processes, controls, and documentation in support of internal and external audits.
  • CPA or equivalent professional accounting certification.

Bonus Points If You Have: 

  • Experience with NetSuite ARM and Salesforce
  • Experience supporting a public company, an IPO-readiness program, or a SOX-compliant control environment.
  • Experience with acquisitions and system implementations
  • Experience supporting multinational operations and complex global customer arrangements.

Compensation Range: $140,000–$180,000 base + variable bonus

In accordance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) the approximate compensation range for this role in Colorado is listed above. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors, such as knowledge, skills, and abilities.
