ROLE DESCRIPTION
Abbott Diabetes Care is looking for an exceptional marketing leader to serve as the senior-most HCP marketing leader within the U.S. organization, shaping the future of healthcare professional engagement and commercial growth across one of the world's leading health technology companies.
The Director, Healthcare Professional (HCP) Marketing is responsible for defining and executing the strategy that drives healthcare professional engagement, adoption, advocacy, and business growth across the diabetes portfolio.
This executive leader oversees the full spectrum of HCP marketing, including brand and product marketing, personal promotion, omnichannel engagement, CRM, digital and web experiences, content strategy, peer-to-peer engagement, customer lifecycle marketing, and marketing operations. They are accountable for creating an integrated customer engagement model that delivers a seamless experience across called-on and non-called-on healthcare professional audiences.
As a key member of the U.S. Marketing Leadership Team, the Director partners closely with Sales, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Commercial Operations, Analytics, and Global Marketing to align strategy, accelerate growth, and maximize commercial performance. The role is responsible for leading a large, multi-functional marketing organization, developing current and future leaders, building best-in-class marketing capabilities, and fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and customer-centricity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Enterprise HCP Strategy & Commercial Leadership
- Define and lead the U.S. HCP marketing strategy across all healthcare professional segments.
- Drive growth through integrated customer engagement, audience strategy, segmentation, and commercialization plans.
- Influence business strategy through customer insights, analytics, and market intelligence.
Brand, Product & Omnichannel Engagement
- Oversee brand strategy, product marketing, launches, personal promotion, omnichannel engagement, CRM, web, content, media, and peer-to-peer marketing.
- Deliver coordinated customer experiences across field, digital, and non-personal channels.
- Advance personalization, customer journey orchestration, and marketing innovation.
Organizational & Talent Leadership
- Lead a large, multi-disciplinary HCP marketing organization comprising brand, omnichannel, digital, content, operations, and customer engagement teams.
- Build organizational capabilities and develop current and future marketing leaders.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, execution, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional & External Partnership
- Partner with Sales, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Commercial Operations, Analytics, Regulatory, Legal, and Global Marketing teams.
- Lead alignment across key strategic initiatives, launches, and commercial priorities.
- Oversee critical agency and vendor relationships.
Performance & Resource Management
- Own HCP marketing budgets, resource allocation, and investment strategy.
- Establish robust measurement frameworks, KPIs, and ROI tracking.
- Drive operational excellence through data-driven decision-making and performance optimization.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or a related industry.
- Proven success leading large-scale HCP marketing and customer engagement strategies.
- Deep expertise in omnichannel marketing, personal promotion, CRM, digital engagement, and customer experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large, high-performing teams through periods of growth and transformation.
- Experience leading large, matrixed organizations and influencing executive stakeholders across complex commercial environments.
- Strong track record of driving commercial performance through customer-centric and data-driven marketing strategies.
- Experience managing significant budgets and resource investments.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in diabetes care, digital health, or consumer packaged goods.
- Experience supporting large field sales organizations.
- MBA or advanced degree.
The base pay for this position is
$197,300.00 – $394,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
