Abbott is a global healthcare leader that helps people live more fully at all stages of life. Our portfolio of life-changing technologies spans diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals, and branded generic medicines. Our 115,000 colleagues serve people in more than 160 countries.

Working at Abbott

At Abbott, you can do work that matters, grow, and learn, care for yourself and your family, be your true self, and live a full life. You'll also have access to:

  • Career development with an international company where you can grow the career you dream of
  • Free medical coverage through our Health Investment Plan (HIP) PPO in the next calendar year
  • An excellent retirement savings plan with a high employer contribution
  • Tuition reimbursement, the Freedom 2 Save student debt program, and FreeU education benefit
  • A company recognized as a great place to work in dozens of countries and named one of the most admired companies in the world by Fortune

At Lingo, we're building the future of personalized health. Our mission is to empower individuals to make smarter decisions about their health through real-time insights. As part of Abbott's innovation ecosystem, we combine the agility of a startup with the resources of a global healthcare leader.

We are seeking a Director, Product Design to define and lead the design vision for the next generation of Lingo. This is a senior leadership role for a visionary design executive who thrives at the intersection of strategy, craft, and execution — someone who can set direction, inspire teams, and shape a product that has the potential to transform how millions of people understand and manage their health.

What You'll Do

Define Design Vision & Strategy Own the long-term design vision for Lingo, including Lingo 2.0 -- our next-generation health platform. You will set the strategic design direction that balances simplicity, scientific credibility, and meaningful personalization at scale.

Lead & Scale the Design Organization Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing design team. Establish design standards, processes, and culture that enable the team to do their best work. Create an environment where designers grow, collaborate, and consistently raise the bar.

Drive Product Excellence Elevate the quality and ambition of design across all product surfaces -- mobile, web, and beyond. Hold a high bar for craft, coherence, and user impact, and ensure every design decision is grounded in user research, behavioral data, and clinical insight.

Partner at the Executive Level Serve as a design thought leader and strategic partner to CPO and cross-functional leadership. Influence product strategy, roadmap prioritization, and resource allocation by advocating for the user and identifying opportunities for differentiation through design.

Scale Design Impact Establish design systems, frameworks, and rituals that enable the team to move quickly without sacrificing quality. Ensure design is embedded early and deeply in the product development process.

Communicate with Clarity & Conviction Articulate design vision, trade-offs, and impact to senior leadership, cross-functional partners, and external stakeholders. Represent design at the highest levels of the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in digital product design, with at least 5 years in a design leadership role managing teams
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or a related field
  • Proven track record of defining and executing design strategy for complex, consumer-facing digital products
  • Deep expertise in UX/UI design for mobile and web, with a strong eye for visual craft
  • Experience building, mentoring, and scaling design teams
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating design leadership, strategic thinking, and measurable business impact
  • Proficiency in Figma and modern design tooling

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Design, HCI, or a related field
  • Experience in health tech, wearables, or consumer health products
  • Strong understanding of agile development, design systems, and user research methodologies
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and executive presence
  • Experience working in a regulated or clinically-informed product environment
