Job Description:

The Director of Compliance & Controls is a senior leader within HPE Operations responsible for helping the organization deliver on its commitments to customers, business units, while maintaining the trust, compliance, and resilience required to operate on a global scale.

Reporting to the VP of HPE Operations Business Operations, this leader will partner across HPE Operations and with HPE's enterprise compliance organizations to ensure the organization is prepared for evolving regulatory requirements, maintains a strong controls environment, and proactively identifies and mitigates operational risk.

Aligned with HPE Operations' vision to be a breakout competitive advantage for HPE through AI-enabled, capital-efficient, and resilient execution, this role plays a critical part in advancing our strategic imperatives—helping HPE Operations deliver best-in-class customer experiences, operate with speed and resilience, and embed trust and compliance by design.

While enterprise ownership of regulatory policy and interpretation resides with HPE's Office of Legal and Administrative Affairs (OLAA) and other corporate compliance functions, this role is accountable for driving HPE Operations readiness, execution, and adherence to applicable requirements. The successful candidate will lead a global team responsible for compliance, controls, business continuity, risk management, audit support, and related programs, while continuing the evolution of these functions into strategic enablers of the business.

Location: This role is currently open to candidates within the United States.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance, Controls & Readiness

  • Lead the HPE Operations Compliance & Controls function, establishing priorities that support business objectives and HPE Operations strategic imperatives.
  • Ensure HPE Operations remains informed, prepared, and positioned to respond effectively to emerging regulations, policy changes, audit requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Partner with OLAA and other enterprise compliance organizations to translate evolving requirements into practical, scalable operational solutions.
  • Drive simplification and modernization of compliance-related processes, reducing friction while maintaining appropriate controls and risk management.
  • Champion a proactive culture of readiness, helping teams anticipate and prepare for regulatory and business changes before they become operational challenges.

Risk Management & Operational Resilience

  • Lead programs supporting enterprise risk management, business continuity, operational controls, audit readiness, and policy adherence.
  • Ensure effective mechanisms exist to identify, assess, mitigate, monitor, and escalate compliance and operational risks.
  • Partner with Operations leaders to strengthen organizational resiliency and preparedness for business disruptions.
  • Drive a proactive approach to risk management, enabling teams to anticipate issues before they become business or customer impacts.

Business Enablement & Partnership

  • Build trusted relationships across HPE Operations and key corporate partners to drive alignment and execution.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leadership on compliance, risk, controls, and resilience matters.
  • Influence decisions across a matrixed environment, balancing business objectives with compliance obligations.
  • Champion a culture where compliance and controls are viewed as business enablers that accelerate trust, speed, and customer outcomes.

AI & Operational Transformation

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to simplify compliance processes, improve user experiences, increase effectiveness, and reduce operational overhead.
  • Help build an AI-ready Compliance & Controls organization that embraces innovation while maintaining appropriate safeguards and accountability.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data, automation, and modern operational practices.

Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing global team of experienced managers and professionals.
  • Provide clear strategic direction while ensuring strong execution, accountability, responsiveness, and operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
  • Build organizational capabilities to meet evolving business, regulatory, and operational needs.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or other relevant advanced degree is a plus, but not required.

  • Strong preference for candidates with prior Director-level experience leading managers and experienced professionals in a global organization.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex cross-functional initiatives through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Experience partnering with senior executives and driving outcomes across matrixed organizations.
  • HPE Operations experience (Services, Supply Chain, Quote-to-Cash, Customer Operations, or Business Operations) strongly preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of, or demonstrated aptitude for, compliance, audit, controls, business continuity, and risk management disciplines.

  • Exceptional executive communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to build alignment and drive outcomes across organizational boundaries.
  • Demonstrated track record of operational excellence, execution, and delivering results with urgency.
