Job Description
Overview:
Motorola Fixed Video is seeking a data engineer Co-Op to join our growing analytics team. We are seeking a skilled data engineer to assist in designing and developing scalable pipelines from various data sources to Snowflake. This role will assist in designing and maintaining cloud-based data architecture and data workflows. This role will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex issues in production systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
The ideal candidate should be detail oriented and comfortable working with large datasets. They should have a problem solving mindset, the ability to collaborate in a team environment, and a passion for optimizing data processes.
Responsibilities Include:
Assist in the development and maintenance of scalable data infrastructure, leveraging Python, SQL and cloud-based technologies for data manipulation, transformation and querying
Assist in integrating REST APIs for data ingestion and external system connectivity, with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow
Learn and apply best practices in data engineering, including data governance, security, and performance optimization
Document workflows, architecture components, and technical decisions to support transparency and knowledge sharing
Identify and implement opportunities for data automation and process improvement
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and failures using logging and observability tools
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
Proficient in Python, especially data manipulation (e.g. pandas, Json, requests)
Knowledge of APIs (REST, SOAP) and authentication (OAUTH2, KeyPair Authentication)
Experience with Snowflake including SQL, Snowpipe, and staging/loading data
Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and integrating with external APIs
Experience with data warehouse solution, especially in Snowflake or BigQuery
Familiarity with data security, privacy standards, and handling sensitive data.
Strong problem solving skills, attention to details, and the ability to work independently.
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows.
Familiarity with Snowflake external function, UDFs, or integrating with external services.
Your Competitive Advantages: Background in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or related field
Basic Requirements
Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in a computer science or similar technical program at a Canadian University with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
