Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Customer Engagement Manager 1. This position will be located in Vandenberg Space Force Base, California and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) Ground Base Strategic Deterrent program. Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly organized, results-driven professional to serve as a key facilitator for Sentinel program events.

This role is pivotal to the success of the Sentinel mission, acting as the central hub for coordinating high-visibility customer engagements, distinguished-visitor tours, and executive site visits. The incumbent will operate within a complex, multi-dimensional environment that spans government agencies, corporate divisions, sector teams, and external partners, requiring an acute attention to detail and the ability to synthesize diverse stakeholder requirements into seamless, mission-critical events.

 

What You’ll Get To Do: 

Key dimensions of the position include:

  • Strategic Event Leadership – Design, plan, and execute a portfolio of events that showcase Sentinel capabilities, reinforce customer relationships, and support business development objectives.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination – Partner with Government Relations, Legislative Affairs, program management, engineering, security, and logistics teams to align event timelines, resources, and messaging, ensuring full situational awareness for all internal and external participants.

  • Stakeholder Liaison – Serve as the regional point of contact for government officials, industry partners, academic institutions, and STEM organizations, cultivating long-term relationships that advance the Sentinel program’s strategic goals.

  • Operational Excellence – Manage end-to-end logistics—including venue selection, travel arrangements, security clearances, technical briefings, and contingency planning—while maintaining rigorous documentation and post-event reporting.

  • Performance Tracking & Integration – Record and monitor campaign milestones, visitor feedback, and KPI data; translate insights into actionable recommendations that feed directly into division capture strategies and broader corporate initiatives.

  • The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor to Sentinel leadership, delivering flawless event experiences that reinforce Northrop Grumman’s reputation for excellence, strengthen customer confidence, and contribute measurably to the organization’s growth and mission success.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience; master's degree and 3 years’ experience or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have an active U.S. Government DoD interim Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.

  • Demonstrated track record/ experience in project management/ execution and closeout

  • Executive presence and comfort in communications at that level 

  • Experience building strong customer relationships. 

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Prior military or Dept. of Defense experience and/or US Air Force experience.

  • Experience with ICBM operations/maintenance/sustainment especially flight test.

  • Rapidly accepts change and inspires change in organizations in a positive, inclusive way.

  • Dynamic self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to function independently.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • At least 3 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule. 

  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman’s Business Acquisition Process (BAP)

Primary Level Salary Range: $121,000.00 - $181,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
