Description

At Northrop Grumman, our employees have incredible opportunities to work on revolutionary systems that impact people's lives around the world today, and for generations to come. Our pioneering and inventive spirit has enabled us to be at the forefront of many technological advancements in our nation's history - from the first flight across the Atlantic Ocean, to stealth bombers, to landing on the moon. We look for people who have bold new ideas, courage and a pioneering spirit to join forces to invent the future, and have fun along the way. Our culture thrives on intellectual curiosity, cognitive diversity and bringing your whole self to work — and we have an insatiable drive to do what others think is impossible. Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.

Northrop Grumman’s Corporate Office is seeking a Corporate Strategy Manager 2 to join the Corporate Strategy & Strategic Partnerships organization at our Falls Church, VA headquarters, reporting to the Director of Corporate Strategy. This is a corporate-scope role: the selected candidate will support development of the enterprise strategy by leading discrete analytical workstreams that span sectors and functions — generating market and competitive insight, building financial and business-case analyses, and preparing executive-ready materials that inform decisions made by the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Directors. The role combines the enterprise breadth of a corporate strategy mandate with the hands-on analytical ownership of a high-performing individual contributor.

Role and Responsibilities:

The selected applicant will become a contributing member of a team responsible for shaping Northrop Grumman’s corporate strategy, including:

  • Corporate Strategy Development – Lead discrete analyses and workstreams that are part of the corporate strategy; contribute analysis and content to Board-, ELT-, and CFO-level materials.

  • Market and Functional Strategy Development - Lead and / or support development of defined analytical modules within cross-sector and cross-functional teams developing actionable market and functional growth strategies.

  • Market and Competitive Analysis — Develop insights on market trends, customer priorities, government budgets (e.g., PB / FYDP), competitive dynamics, and emerging technologies to generate insight on growth opportunities and threats across the enterprise.

  • Business-Case and Financial Analysis — Build financial models and business cases — including scenario and risk analysis — to support evaluation of new initiatives, growth options, and investment decisions.

  • Gap and Opportunity Identification — Identify capability gaps and growth opportunities; partner with the M&A, Strategic Partnerships, Analysis Center, and CTO organizations to help assess and prioritize options that address them.

  • Strategic Partnerships Support — Evaluate and structure elements of enterprise-level strategic partnerships — including partner landscaping, strategic-fit assessment, and value-case development — in coordination with the Strategic Partnerships function.

  • Portfolio and Capital-Allocation Analysis — Conduct elements of enterprise portfolio assessments and capital-allocation analyses to provide an enterprise-level view of priorities and investments.

  • Executive Communication — Prepare clear, well-structured written and visual communications; distill complex analysis into concise, argument-led recommendations and present findings to senior stakeholders.

  • Performance Tracking — Track progress of select strategic initiatives against key performance indicators; prepare regular progress updates and insights for leadership.

  • Analytical Partnership — Serve as a reliable analytical partner to corporate and sector teams; may provide informal guidance to junior analysts and contribute to team standards and knowledge.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant professional experience OR Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant professional experience in strategy development, strategic assessment, market/competitive analysis, and financial analysis.

  • Strong analytical and financial-modeling skills, with a demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems and build rigorous quantitative analyses (e.g., market sizing, business cases, valuation logic).

  • Excellent executive communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex data into actionable insights for executives and senior stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of aerospace and defense industry trends and structure.

  • Experience working in or with large, complex organizations and leading or contributing to cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance as a condition of continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or MBA in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

  • Experience in top-tier strategy consulting and/or a corporate or sector strategy role.

  • In-depth knowledge of Northrop Grumman and U.S. Government products, systems, missions, and operations; familiarity with the government-contractor community.

  • Financial acumen across valuation, market sizing, and business-case / ROI modeling.

  • Ability to clearly articulate complex ideas, present findings to diverse audiences, and communicate effectively with senior executives.

  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
