Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on technology leader to serve as the Corporate Functions Lead Software Engineer – VP III, responsible for designing, building, and modernizing strategic technology solutions across Human Resources, Legal, Audit, Compliance, Risk, Realty, and other Corporate Functions domains.
This role is intended for a senior technologist who remains deeply involved in software engineering while providing technical leadership across multiple initiatives and engineering teams. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted technical leader responsible for shaping engineering standards, guiding solution design, mentoring developers, and driving delivery of enterprise-scale applications, integrations, and data platforms.
The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in Java engineering, enterprise application development, integration architecture, cloud technologies, and Databricks-based data platforms with the ability to influence technology strategy and execution across a complex global environment.
Unlike a traditional engineering manager, this role is expected to remain highly technical and hands-on, participating directly in architecture reviews, software development, design decisions, code reviews, performance optimization, and technical problem solving.

What You Will Be Responsible For
1. Technical Leadership & Engineering Strategy
- Serve as a senior engineering leader across Corporate Functions Technology.
- Define technical roadmaps and engineering approaches for strategic initiatives.
- Partner with architects and business leaders to translate business capabilities into scalable technical solutions.
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and reusable design patterns.
- Lead engineering reviews and technical decision-making across multiple programs.
- Influence platform and technology investment decisions.
2. Enterprise Application Development
- Design, build, and support enterprise-grade applications utilizing modern software engineering practices.
- Lead development of highly scalable services, APIs, and distributed applications.
- Drive modernization of legacy technologies into API-first and cloud-native architectures.
- Establish frameworks that improve developer productivity and solution consistency.
- Personally contribute to development efforts involving the organization's most complex technical challenges.
3. Java Engineering Leadership
- Act as a subject matter expert for enterprise Java development.
- Lead architecture and development activities utilizing:
- Java
- Spring Boot
- Spring Framework
- RESTful APIs
- Microservices
- Event-Driven Architectures
- Messaging Platforms
- Container Technologies
- Guide engineering teams on performance optimization, scalability, maintainability, and security.
- Lead code reviews and engineering quality initiatives.
4. Databricks & Enterprise Data Platforms
- Lead development of strategic data solutions using Databricks and modern data engineering frameworks.
- Drive design and implementation of:
- Data Pipelines
- Data Integration Services
- ETL/ELT Frameworks
- Lakehouse Architectures
- Analytical Data Products
- Partner with data scientists, business analysts, and reporting teams.
- Enable AI, reporting, automation, and analytics initiatives through scalable data platforms.
- Optimize data processing, performance, governance, and operational support models.
5. Enterprise Integration & Platform Engineering
- Lead design and implementation of integrations across key enterprise platforms including:
- Workday
- ServiceNow
- Microsoft 365
- SharePoint
- Databricks
- Vendor SaaS solutions
- Internal enterprise applications
- Define API standards and integration patterns.
- Support event-driven and service-oriented architectures.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and cybersecurity standards.
6. Cloud & Modern Engineering
- Drive adoption of cloud-native engineering practices.
- Lead implementation of:
- CI/CD Pipelines
- Infrastructure Automation
- Observability Frameworks
- Monitoring and Logging Solutions
- Containerized Workloads
- Partner with Cloud Engineering and Infrastructure teams to improve engineering efficiency and reliability.
- Establish resilient and operationally mature solutions.
7. Engineering Excellence & Talent Development
- Mentor engineers across Corporate Functions Technology.
- Develop engineering standards and technical career development paths.
- Build communities of practice around modern engineering disciplines.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Lead technical assessments and hiring activities for senior engineering talent.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 12+ years of software engineering experience.
- 8+ years developing enterprise solutions using Java technologies.
- Deep expertise in:
- Java
- Spring Boot
- Microservices
- REST APIs / MCPs
- Distributed Systems
- Enterprise Integrations
- Proven experience leading development efforts for large-scale enterprise platforms.
- Strong hands-on development and troubleshooting skills.
- Extensive experience designing scalable and resilient software architectures.
- Experience leading technical teams without direct management authority.
- Strong understanding of software engineering lifecycle, DevOps, testing, and release management.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience with Databricks and modern data engineering platforms.
- Experience with AWS cloud services.
- Experience supporting Human Resources, Legal, Audit, Compliance, Risk, or other Corporate Functions domains.
- Experience with AI-enabled solutions and data-driven applications.
- Experience developing modern analytics and reporting platforms.
- Financial services industry experience.
- Cloud, Java, Databricks, or Architecture certifications.
Salary Range:
$120,000 - $217,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
