What You Will Do

The central responsibility of the CORE/Continuous Improvement Focal is the implementation and sustainment of Collins Aerospace CORE (Customer Orientated Results & Excellence) operating methodology within the business. Through its implementation the candidate will support Operational Output and Operational strategy via the promotion of an environment which challenges existing processes and strives for excellence through continuous improvement and flexibility.

This will be achieved via the application of Continuous Improvement methodologies and advanced problem-solving techniques supported by lean principles to develop and optimize the Manufacturing system. This will be completed while ensuring the implementation of the CORE operating system principles and supporting the Wolerhampton site in achieving the goals of increasing the maturity of the organization. You will also work with the international Continuous Improvement/CORE team to support the execution of your operational strategy.


Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and manage the manufacturing Goal Alignment strategy and progress and lead the manufacturing site transformation journey in relation to the CORE framework.
  • Building and promoting a culture of continuous improvement/CORE
  • Direct and coach manufacturing teams in the deployment of CORE/Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies in manufacturing environments to drive best in class processes.
  • Supervision over the correct use of CORE tools in the organization at the site
  • Drive regular manufacturing CORE event programmes delivering tangible benefits and savings aligned to the manufacturing performance metrics around Safety, People, Quality, Delivery Cost and Inventory.
  • Identify and eliminate system constraints and lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Support the 5-Year Strategic Roadmap development and maintenance (CI, Industry 4.0, digital transformation, and CORE).
  • Support the site in achieving operational maturity goals
  • Support site members with CORE Engagement Scope sheets, CORE Leadership Weeks, COSMIC (CORE System) updates, maturity assessments, and gap-closure activities.
  • Develop and exploit a network of contacts and knowledge sharing throughout the wider Collins business.
  • Engage the factory floor and engage with both operators and managers to benchmark and identify future solutions.
  • Lead & direct manufacturing site CORE assessments and workshops to enable CORE site certification.
  • Act as leading authority that reviews, approves and oversees manufacturing CORE training programmes to ensure manufacturing employees are successful in their CORE certification journey.
  • Mentor, coach and develop the capabilities of leaders in your team to develop a strong Operations Management team.

Preferred Skills & Experience:      

This position will require you to have demonstrated strong communication and influencing skills at all levels within a large organisation to influence change. You will have the ability to train and coach team members in a standard suite of CORE tools and techniques as well as leading and inspiring teams. You will be involved in creating the right environment for continued and sustainable improvement and supporting existing change initiatives.

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in the use of Continuous Improvement tools
  • Experience in a similar position in a Manufacturing Company
  • Ability to work under time pressure and good organisational skills
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and influencing skills
