As a Configuration Data Management Analyst Level 5 located in Dulles, VA, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

Selected candidate, acting as a CDM subject matter expert (SME) for our spacecraft design products, plans and coordinates preparation of project documentation, such as engineering drawings, production specifications and schedules, and contract modifications, to ensure customer contract requirements are met. Reviews contract to determine documentation required for each phase of project, applying knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes. Analyzes proposed changes of product design to determine effect on overall product and system. Coordinates modification records for management control. Establishes change orders and prepares for change authorization and documentation by company and subcontractor. Reviews and analyzes released engineering change data and coordinates changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Your Role and Impact:

  • Evaluate program/contractual/standard documents and related plans to determine contractual requirements for configuration and data management, in alignment with company standards and develop CDM process requirements tailoring, based on program class and contractual agreements. Develop innovative solutions to problems related to compliance and with respect to product lines and complex designs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain CM/DM Plans throughout the lifecycle of the program. Support configuration items and documentation tree development/maintenance. Enter new Parts and maintain BOMs while supporting CDM tools development and migration efforts (as applicable).
  • Ensure all components and documents are clearly identified and controlled. Manage changes to configuration items through a formal change control process. Ensure physical and functional configurations match their documentation.
  • Provide efficient solutions to safety critical items identification and traceability to verification events. Decisions affect overall safety process of the spacecraft system/subsystem and/or product line safety critical items. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in failure to achieve goals critical to the major objectives of the program and organization.
  • Establish and maintain the configuration baseline and implement Configuration Control Board (CCB), Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Trouble Reports (TRs), and Drawing Revision Notices (DRNs) approved changes. Conduct document peer reviews of unclassified and classified internal and deliverable material. Serves as CDM spokesperson for the product line(s) on highly significant matters relating to policies, programs, capabilities, and long-range goals and objectives.
  • Conduct configuration audits to verify compliance with documented requirements. Reviews engineering documentation, reports, specifications, and drawings to determine documentation and material requirements, ensure compliance with engineering specifications, and to ensure engineering orders reflect latest requirements.
  • Serve as an CDM advocate for the program; coordinate and deliver Contract / Supplier Delivery Requirements Lists (CDRLs/SDRLs) to meet contractual requirements.
  • Provide CDM training to junior staff and to program engineering with focus on continues education, OJT on baseline and change management.

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of professional experience or Master’s degree with 10 years of professional experience or PhD with 8 years of professional experience
  • Requires an active U.S. Government Top-Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
  • Deep understanding of CDM process requirements per industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 10007, or MIL-STD-973/IEEE 828, EIA-649/ GEIA-859
  • Strong knowledge of Program Class (A-D) classification and capable to successfully develop process tailoring at each Class level
  • Robust knowledge of CDM principles related to hardware configuration, data and change management principles and proficiency in the use of configuration management tools such as: (SharePoint, Atlassian tools, Windchill, Enovia, or EPLM)
  • Experience performing configuration and compliance audits

 Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Strong understanding of aerospace industry processes, and related CDM best practices
  • Familiar with software configuration, software build management, and software control
  • Tool Development experience using Atlassian Tools (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket), O2B, Costpoint, SAP, Windchill, ePLM
  • Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), CAMEO

Primary Level Salary Range: $146,300.00 - $219,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
