Amentum is seeking a Galley Supervisor to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Galley Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing daily food service operations within contracted Dining Facility environments. This position provides leadership, supervision, technical guidance, training, and quality assurance to food service personnel while ensuring all meals and services are delivered according to contract requirements, military standards, food safety regulations, and established quality standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily oversight and management of all DFAC food service operations, including food preparation, meal service, sanitation, and facility operations.
  • Supervise and coordinate staffing, scheduling, and execution, of daily requirements.
  • Oversee preparation of large volume meals using various cooking methods while ensuring quality, consistency, and timely service.
  • Ensure all food service operations are conducted in accordance with contract requirements, technical manuals, and applicable food service standards.
  • Monitor daily operations to ensure compliance with established performance, safety, and quality expectations.
  • Provide leadership and operational support to ensure successful DFAC mission execution.
  • Ensure meals are prepared in accordance with applicable nutrition and health promotion standards, including:
    • AR 40-25 Nutrition Standards and Education
    • AR 600-60 Army Health Promotion
    • PAM 600-24 Health Promotion
  • Oversee implementation and compliance of Food Safety and inspection Programs in accordance with:
  • AR 40-656
  • AR 40-657
  • AR 40-660
  • DOD Hazardous Food and Nonprescription Drug Recall System
  • TB MED 263
  • TB 530 Tri-Service Food Code
  • Provide Supervision, technical guidance, and training to DFAC employees.
  • Mentor staff on proper food preparation techniques, sanitation procedures, safety requirements, and customer service expectations.

  • Assist with planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and operational coordination.
  • Maintain required documentation, reports, and records in accordance with contract and leadership requirements.
  • Respond to changing priorities and operational demands while maintaining service standards.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar food service supervisory or management role, preferably supporting Navy or  military food service operations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising food preparation, meal service, sanitation, and quality control activities.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an office and administrative environment, including answering phones and utilizing standard office equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety practices and proper handling of equipment and materials.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
  • Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. 
  • Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle.
  • Experience managing operations with a multinational workforce.
  • Strong customer service skills with experience supporting contract based operations.
  • ServSafe certification preferred
  • Experience working in fast paced environments requiring flexibility, adaptability, and management of competing priorities.
  • Experience supporting overseas deployments and government contracting requirements.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

 Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
