Amentum is seeking a BCS Watchstander / DDC Technician to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the U.S. government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a highly skilled BCS Watchstander / DDC Technician to support a unique U.S. Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. Thise role involves continuous operation and maintenance of the Building Control System (BCS) to ensure efficient and safe monitoring and control of commodity production and service demand 24/7, throughout the contract period.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain the Building Control System (BCS) and Direct Digital Controls (DDC) to monitor and manage commodity production and distribution effectively and efficiently.
- Provide uninterrupted 24/7 coverage as a BCS Watchstander to ensure continuous monitoring and control of systems to meet all demand requirements.
- Monitor critical systems, including HVAC, lighting, utilities, production processes, and other connected systems, through the BCS to ensure seamless operations and compliance with performance standards.
- Respond promptly to alarms and system alerts, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain system operability and prevent service disruptions.
- Conduct routine checks, diagnostics, and inspections of BCS/DDC to identify areas requiring maintenance, repair, or optimization.
- Perform routine system maintenance, repairs, and calibration of equipment to ensure the integrity and reliability of systems.
- Maintain detailed logs, records, and reports of all system activities, including performance data, incidents, alarms, and issues resolved during shifts.
- Support preventative maintenance activities by scheduling and assisting with planned inspections and servicing of connected systems and equipment.
- Assist with the integration and troubleshooting of new systems or upgrades into the existing BCS/DDC platform.
- Collaborate with support teams and management to implement energy efficiency initiatives and recommend performance improvements in system operations.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure operational safety of staff, equipment, and systems being managed.
- Maintain compliance with applicable standards and regulations, including industry, government, and military guidelines for building and utility systems.
- Assist with training other personnel in BCS/DDC operations and maintenance to ensure operational competence across the team.
- Support emergency response efforts by implementing contingency protocols in the event of system failures or natural disasters.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in operating, maintaining, and repairing Building Control Systems (BCS) or Direct Digital Control Systems (DDC).
- Hands-on experience with systems monitoring and troubleshooting in industrial, commercial, or government facilities.
- Proven ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance on control systems, mechanical equipment, and supporting hardware.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in operating computerized building management systems (e.g., BCS, DDCs) and interpreting system data and performance metrics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for diagnosing and resolving system and equipment issues efficiently.
- Familiarity with monitoring and controlling systems automation for utilities, HVAC, and other building systems.
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical concepts relevant to BCS and DDC systems.
- Basic knowledge of networking and communication protocols associated with BCS/DDC systems.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills to maintain accurate system logs, reports, and service records.
- Ability to work in 24/7 operations and provide shift coverage, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving extended standing, walking, and accessing confined spaces.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and meet deployment standards.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) or austere environment handling mission-critical operations and systems.
- Certifications in related areas, such as HVAC, BAS/DDC programming, or energy management (e.g., Tridium, Niagara, or equivalent systems).
- Familiarity with U.S. military or government building management operations or systems.
- Demonstrated capability in energy efficiency applications and system optimization practices.
- Strong technical expertise in integrating or upgrading existing DDC/BCS systems.
- Proven ability to mentor or train others in control system operations or preventative maintenance strategies.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
