This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. 

This role is part of New Glenn Avionics, supporting delivery of all avionics components across the entire New Glenn vehicle including but not limited to Avionics Line Replaceable Units, Avionics Harnessing, Avionics Software, and Avionics Systems deliverables.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Ownership of avionics configuration and integration between New Glenn and Customer Payloads  

  • Cradle to grave verification and validation of electrical interface control document requirements 

  • Assisting in the design efforts to meeting customer avionics requirements  

  • Responsible Engineer for Integrated Vehicle Testing related to customer avionics configurations 

  • Owning multiple integration efforts simultaneously and being a single threaded avionics leader from the time of proposal and contract sign through launch.  

  • Develop avionics systems engineering requirements related to customer integration and create new and streamlined process to assist in quick turn integration efforts  

  • Support customer design reviews, present technical information to multiple different customers both internal and external, and work closely with other integrators to meet accelerated schedule demands  

  • Responsible for being an Avionics liaison between multiple different technical and non-technical groups, assist in mission proposal and scope estimation efforts. 

  • Responsible Engineer for integrating customer hardware into the New Glenn HIL and serving as a Test Lead for any HIL testing related to customer deliverables. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. 

  • 3+ years direct experience developing requirements and validation and verification articles  

  • 1+ years experience working in an Integration & Test setting  

  • Direct experience in a customer facing role 

  • Experience working across multiple technical teams 

  • Experience with configuration design, preferrable with avionics hardware and software 

  • Excellent ability to present, write, and communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical engineering groups 

  • Experience presenting technical design and trade studies to internal and external leadership 

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. 

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience working in launch vehicles, spacecraft, or other aerospace application 

  • Previous experience owning integration cycles cradle to grave 

  • Industry experience with Program Management, Estimation, and Budgeting  

  • Familiarity with other engineering sub-groups including but not limited to Structures, Ordnance, Thermal, Combined Loads, Production, Operations, etc.  

  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to Launch Vehicles and Spacecraft

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles:  Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation
  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
