Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Associate Systems Engineer – Orbit Analyst – Level 1 to join our team in Aurora, CO. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

This position is a highly visible position that includes frequent interactions with customers and working on a badge-less team.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Maneuver Planning

    • Generating maneuver plans and operational execution products; coordinating plans with leadership, crew, and mission partners.

    • Managing long-term orbit stability and longevity.

    • Perform propellant management, thruster calibration, and lifetime trending.

  • Orbit Determination

    • Use orbit determination software to perform routine OD, ephemeris prediction, and post-maneuver OD recovery.

    • Apply knowledge of ground and space hardware and software systems to update orbit determination and covariance models.

    • Generate ephemeris and operational orbit products; provide products to crew and mission partners as needed.

Flexible Schedules:  For example, some roles offer the ability to work a 9/80 work schedule, which allows an employee to work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday and take every other Friday off of work.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a (STEM) discipline plus a minimum 0 years of professional engineering/technical experience.

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance, SCI access, and complete a Counterintelligence Polygraph examination prior to start.

  • Demonstrated background in one or more relevant engineering disciplines.

  • Excellent written, presentation, coordination, and communication skills along with excellent interpersonal and team building skills.

  • Ability to utilize MS Office Tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, to execute responsibilities as needed within the role (presentations, internal/external communications, data, collection, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with STK and programming language (Python, MATLAB, or PERL).

  • Familiarity with operational orbit determination and maneuver planning.

  • Ability to respond quickly to resolve anomalies.

  • Ability to learn the details and interdependencies of complex, operational systems.

  • Familiarity with troubleshooting and performing analysis on operational systems.

  • Familiarity with Linux.

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards 

Primary Level Salary Range: $76,200.00 - $114,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
