Overview
Reporting to the Director of Finance, Clinical Sections for the Department of Internal Medicine, this role will provide leadership, oversight, and direction to the department’s long-term and daily financial activities in the section of Cardiology. Maintain a focus on continual process improvements to ensure operational efficiencies and sound business practices as well as develop, implement, and maintain systems of internal controls. Work closely with section leadership and provide financial support for the multiple clinical groups within the section providing financial guidance.

2. Solid understanding of internal control concepts and implementation of internal control systems in a complex business environment. Ability to anticipate changes in the business environment and proactively manage change. Keenness and quickness in understanding and dealing with business situations. 3. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to address the needs of individuals at all levels throughout the university.
4. Visionary with ability to influence. Ability to generate a strategic vision and to influence people to achieve this vision. Ability to negotiate skillfully with both internal and external constituents.
5. Demonstrated IT skills, including extensive experience with, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

1. Proficient in YBT and Workday.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Provide leadership and strategic direction in development and modification of department’s financial and administrative policies and procedures as well as to the business office staff and all daily financial activities of the department. 2. Develop and maintain department-wide forecast model as well as short term and long-term programmatic financial business plans. 3. Develop and disseminate straightforward and comprehensive financial reports and facilitate units in financial and business planning with a goal of maximizing revenues and minimizing costs. 4. Identify and monitor external and internal factors influencing the organization’s mission and goals. Plans for financial and non-financial resources required for the organization to achieve its goals. 5. Collaborate with budget office and leadership to prepare and support annual university Corporation Budget process. Responsible for timely and accurate budget input and adjustments for all operating sources of funds. Create budget narrative and assist with annual presentation to leadership. 6. Implement and maintain strong internal controls to provide reasonable assurance of effective and appropriate resource use, accurate financial information, adherence to contractual obligations and agreements, policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements and reporting. 7. Identify, communicate, address, and/or escalate risks in a timely and appropriate manner to protect the assets, resources, information and reputation of the organization and the University. 8. Ensure all staff understand and comply with the relevant regulations and requirements as they pertain to their scope of activity. 9. Advise and collaborate with campus partners on all financial matters, planning, reporting, etc. 10. Oversee business office staff.
