Aquatics Manager

Amentum is seeking an Aquatics Manager to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Aquatics Manager will be responsible for the overall management, administration, and supervision of aquatics programs supporting MWR operations. This position ensures the safe, efficient, and effective operation of aquatic facilities while delivering high quality recreational, instructional, and fitness programs that meet the needs of the installation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily operations of aquatic facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all patrons.
- Assist the Program Manager with administrative, operational, and management functions associated with aquatics programs and facilities.
- Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate a variety of aquatic, fitness, instructional, and community recreation programs.
- Coordinate recurring and special aquatic events, instructional classes, fitness activities, and joint community programs.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and performance management to ensure quality customer service and operational excellence.
- Develop and implement comprehensive aquatics programming that meets the recreational needs of the installation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable MWR policies, safety regulations, and operating procedures.
- Conduct and oversee routine pool chemical testing, maintain water quality, document results, and ensure proper chemical balance.
- Oversee preventative maintenance activities, including pool vacuuming, filtration systems, equipment inspections, and facility cleanliness.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to ensure aquatic facilities remain operational and compliant with safety standards.
- Develop, implement, and oversee emergency action plans, rescue procedures, and emergency medical response training.
- Manage the inspection, maintenance, and readiness of emergency rescue equipment.
- Prepare technical reports, operational records, inspections, incident documentation, and program evaluations.
- Monitor program budgets, inventory, supplies, and equipment to ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Ensure staff maintain required certifications and receive ongoing professional development.
- Promote exceptional customer service while fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive environment.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Leisure Services, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within aquatics or recreation operations.
- Current American Red Cross CPR Certification.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Employees must read, speak, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce
- A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle. Valid country driver’s license. and passport.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification.
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports.
- Thorough knowledge of emergency recue equipment, maintenance requirements, and operational readiness.

Working Environment
This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.
Physical Requirements
Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
