About the role

We are currently looking for 2 tradesperson strong hand skills to join our NDT team in a permanent full-time position. This is perfect for someone who can work in defined processes, is quality and safety oriented, pays close attention to detail, and is willing to learn. You will receive a full training and comprehensive onboarding. 

The ideal applicant is open to rotating shifts and overtime, detail-oriented, safety-focused, follows defined processes, and eager to learn. This is a great opportunity to join a world-class aerospace team with ongoing training and development.

Main tasks:

  • After completing your induction training you will work in our NDT section completing required work on engine parts, in accordance with the approved data, customer requirements and company procedures.
  • You will learn various NDT methods required to process engine parts.
  • Using our computer system to document and record your work.
  • Ensuring that your work meets all health and safety requirements.
  • This is a safety sensitive role, and all successful candidates will go through a medical assessment and drug & alcohol testing.

Qualifications You Must Have *

  • You have a trade qualification on NZQA or equivalent Level 4 in Aviation or Automotive, Mechanical, Heavy Diesel or similar engineering field Plus 5 years Aviation Maintenance experience.
  • Please provide a copy of your relevant qualifications upon application.
  • Must be able to legally work in New Zealand
  • Must hold NDT L2 certifications per NAS410 / EN4179 in any of the following NDT methods :
    • Penetrant Testing
    • Magnetic Particle Testing
    • Eddy Current
    • Ultrasonics

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience working in a penetrant process line in an engine shop
  • Experience with the V2500 or GTF
  • Strong hand skills.
  • Good computer literacy.
  • Have a high level of attention to detail, accuracy, and good organizational skills.
  • Be a confident, effective communicator and a strong team player.
  • Be passionate about your work and always strive for the best and take pride in your work.
  • Be able to comply with a strong safety and quality culture.
  • Be flexible and adaptable.
  • Experience with ultrasonic immersion systems will be highly regarded.

Christchurch Engine Centre, a joint venture between Pratt & Whitney and Air New Zealand, delivers world-class maintenance, repair, and overhaul services across all IAE V2500 engine variants and is adding capability for the new PW1100G-JM engine late in 2026.
