Amentum is seeking an AGE Technician to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The AGE Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) to ensure operational readiness and compliance with all applicable standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performing inspections, preventive maintenance, and servicing tasks on AGE as identified by the contract or equipment of a similar nature.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions in AGE systems, including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Conducting repairs and overhauls on AGE to maintain full operational capability.
  • Modifying and upgrading AGE equipment as required to improve performance or meet updated specifications.
  • Evaluating the serviceability of equipment and making decisions regarding repairs or replacements based on technical guidelines.
  • Documenting work performed, including inspection reports, preventive maintenance records, and repair logs, to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Reading, interpreting, and applying guidance from technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams during maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Maintaining proper inventory levels of tools, consumables, and replacement parts necessary for AGE operations.
  • Following strict safety practices and adhering to environmental compliance regulations while performing AGE maintenance.
  • Communicating effectively with supervisors, team leads, and other personnel regarding equipment status, issues, or repair timelines.
  • Required to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules, and orders applicable to their actions and conduct. The role demands consistent, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proactive reporting of workplace hazards, and total adherence to safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury environment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in inspecting, performing preventive maintenance, servicing, determining serviceability, diagnosing malfunctions, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, and modifying AGE or similar equipment.
  • Familiarity with AGE systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical subsystems.
  • Ability to effectively interpret technical manuals, schematics, and industry standards for troubleshooting and repair purposes.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong problem-solving and technical skills to resolve malfunctions and keep equipment operational.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team to meet deadlines and program requirements.
  • Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
  • Passport must be valid for at least one (1) year at the time of hire.
  • Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain contract medical requirements for the duration of deployment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and comprehend English to the extent that they can perform the contract requirements and comply with installation emergency procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of formal technical training or certification in Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) maintenance or a related field.
  • Prior military or government service experience maintaining AGE systems or similar equipment.
  • Familiarity with maintenance scheduling, asset tracking, and repair documentation systems.
  • OSHA compliance or other workplace safety certifications.
  • Experience working in OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) or austere environments.
  • Attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple maintenance tasks.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
