Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (level 5) for our team based in Aurora, CO.

We have an opening for an algorithm-oriented Software Engineer to support algorithm development, testing, and evaluation of a new physics-based machine learning initiative on the Aurora campus.  The selected candidate will be part of a fast-paced, highly technical team assisting program leadership and the customer in the design and development of a system to automatically calibrate radio frequency (RF) systems using a combination of physical knowledge and large data sets. The ideal candidate will have experience with some combination of Digital Signal Processing, RF apertures, regression mathematics.

Job duties will include but are not limited to: Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 5: Bachelor’s degree in Science with 12+ years of relative experience; 10+ years with a Master's; An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Requires an active DoD Top-Secret (TS) clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)  and CI Poly at time of application.

  • Programming Languages/Skills: Proficiency in C/C++, Shell scripting, Python and understating of databases.

  • DevOps and CI/CD: Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Bitbucket, Jira, confluence). Experience with Containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Testing and Debugging: Ability to troubleshoot, make bug fixes, and code improvements.

  • Algorithm Experience: Experience with Digital Signal Processing algorithms.

Primary Level Salary Range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
